Portugal books Qatari LNG cargo

REN’s Sines LNG terminal located on Portugal’s Atlantic coast is scheduled to receive a cargo of the chilled fuel from Qatar in January. 

Portugal’s first LNG cargo scheduled for 2017, is being transported by the 145,700-cbm Al Jassasiya LNG carrier jointly owned by Nakilat and Maran Gas.

According to AIS data provided by the vessel tracking website, MarineTraffic, the vessel, chartered to RasGas, departed the Qatari Ras Laffan LNG complex on December 20.

Shipping data issued by the Port of Sines, shows that the LNG carrier is scheduled to unload at the Sines terminal on January 3.

Portugal’s only LNG import facility in Sines port has a nominal sendout capacity of 600,000 cubic meters per hour (5.26 bcm per year), with a peak capacity of 900,000 cubic meters per hour.

Portugal mostly imports LNG from Nigeria, Algeria and Qatar.
