Portugal gets LNG cargo

REN-operated Sines LNG import terminal in Portugal received a cargo of the chilled fuel on Tuesday, shipping data by the Port of Sines showed.

The cargo has been delivered from Nigeria LNG’s Bonny Island liquefaction plant onboard the 175,000-cbm LNG Abuja II.

The vessel is expected to depart soon from the LNG import terminal, according to the data.

The LNG Abuja II is a newbuild carrier delivered to NLNG this year from South Korea’s Samsung Heavy Industries.

It is the fifth ship to be commissioned of the six newly acquired vessels by NLNG, the company said in March this year.

NLNG also said this is the third vessel built by SHI on a four vessels contract signed in 2013. NLNG had also signed a contract with Hyundai Heavy Industries for the remaining two LNG carriers.

LNG Abuja II is 293 meters long with a breadth of 48 meters.
