PSA Norway Conducts Audit on Hammerfest LNG

From 20-23 September 2011, the Petroleum Safety Authority Norway​ (PSA) carried out an audit activity of Hammerfest LNG, Statoil, where they followed up major accident risk, the company’s own follow-up and operation of onshore facilities, pipelines and subsea facilities.

Objective

The objective of the audit was:

To ensure Statoil safeguards the requirements in the Regulations relating to major accidents.

To examine and follow-up how the company inspects own activity

Follow-up operation of pipelines and subsea facilities as an integrated part of the onshore facility on Melkøya

Results

The PSA has identified one nonconformity from the regulations connected to the company’s own follow-up.

Furthermore, three improvement items were identified within the following areas:

Training and expertise

Venting of CO2 in the process facility

System for corrosion monitoring
