Qatar: RasGas Receives QP Innovation Award

RasGas Company Limited was honoured with the Innovation Award for its “Safety Ambassador” programme during the Qatar Petroleum Industrial Oil and Gas Awards 2011.

RasGas became the first company to receive the QP Innovation Award during the Industrial Oil and Gas Awards, where QP honoured various companies for industrial safety excellence. This is the second consecutive year RasGas is honoured with QP Industrial Oil and Gas Awards.

H E Dr. Mohammed Al Sada, Minister of Energy and Industry and Chairman and Managing Director of Qatar Petroleum presented the awards at a function organised at Ritz Carlton, Doha.

On receiving the Innovation Award, RasGas Managing Director Hamad Rashid Al Mohannadi said that safety and health are core elements of RasGas’ business philosophy. “RasGas considers the development of safety and health awareness amongst young people as a necessary life skill. RasGas developed the Safety Ambassador programme in collaboration with the British Safety Council and senior students from Al Khor International School (AKIS), Mosab Bin Omair Secondary Independent School for Boys and Al Khor Girls Secondary Independent School” said Al Mohannadi.

“Our Safety Ambassador programme is aligned with the Qatar National Vision 2030. The aim of the programme is to stimulate interest in occupational health and safety as a career for young students in Qatar,” he said.
