Report: OneSubsea to cut 600 UK jobs?

Up to 600 jobs are at risk at OneSubsea, a provider of subsea solutions for the oil and gas industry, as the company is reportedly looking to shut down a factory in the UK.

According to BBC, the company is thinking about stopping manufacturing in the Leeds factory in 2017. The consultation with employees there will last for 45 days.

The news agency also reported that OneSubsea blamed the industry downturn for a drop in orders which made many of its plants ‘underutilized’.

OneSubsea’s parent company is Schlumberger, the world’s largest oilfield services provider.

To remind, OneSubsea was a Cameron company until Cameron merged with Schlumberger in a transaction announced back in August 2015.

Offshore Energy Today has reached to OneSubsea seeking confirmation of these reports as well as further details about the process.

A spokesperson for OneSubsea has confirmed these reports to OET. Read more here: https://bit.ly/2d7LBj3
