RMK Marine Launches 'T.ESRA'

The launching ceremony, held on January 24th, 2014 at RMK Marine’s Tuzla Shipyard, was attended by executives of Koç Holding, RMK Marine and Ditaş, the owner of the vessel.

The 19,000 DWT asphalt tankers, built by RMK Marine for Ditaş, are named T.ESRA and T.AYLİN. They have the capacity to carry 18,000 m3 of oil products and asphalt products at 250 C in twelve tanks. T.ESRA and T.AYLİN are 156.5 m long, designed as single-screw and powered by a two-cycle engine of 5600 kW each.

T.ESRA is capable of cruising for 27 days uninterruptedly. Her cargo area comprises double bottom and sides as ballast tanks, one continuous main deck, four independent cargo tank blocks and two cargo pump rooms. The overall hull structure including cargo tanks were analyzed by FEM tools for safety and weight optimization.

The hull form, optimized with computational fluid dynamics (CFD), is designed for minimum fuel consumption at economic mode with minimum hydrodynamic resistance. The accommodation area is arranged for nineteen crew members.

The tankers have DNV classification.
