Rolls-Royce to Design and Equip Two PSVs for China

Rolls-Royce, the global power systems company, will design and power an offshore vessel for as an undisclosed ship owner, who has exercised an option to build an additional Rolls-Royce platform supply vessel at Jiangsu Eastern Heavy Industries Co., Ltd. in China.

The £6 million order comes in addition to the order for two UT 755 LN vessels announced by Rolls-Royce in November for the same customer. There is a fourth option included in the contract.

The Rolls-Royce UT 755 PSV’s are designed specifically for transporting solid and liquid cargo to and from offshore oil and gas platforms world wide. In addition to the design, Rolls-Royce will supply an extensive range of onboard equipment, including main engines, propulsion system, thrusters, automation and control systems, deck machinery, bulk handling systems, rudders, steering gears and shaft generators.

The vessel is due for delivery in 2014.
