Rough Seas Sink Cambodian-Flagged Cargo Ship

General cargo vessel Poline, sailing under Cambodian flag, has been stricken by a rough weather causing the ship to capsize and sink early this morning while sailing from Plastun, Russia’s Primorye Region to China.

The ship, transporting timber, had ten crew members onboard when it capsized. Ships that were sailing nearby rushed to assist the crew.

Eight crew members have been rescued, one has died whereas one crewmember is still missing.

The cause of the accident is yet to be investigated.

According to MarineTraffic data, the 1981-built vessel’s last known port was Vladivostok (August 30).
