Royal IHC’s Hi-Traq Trencher Goes onto Further Trials

Royal IHC has informed that Hi-Traq trencher has completed its commissioning at the Port of Blyth in UK and is now moving onto land trials.

“The testing has highlighted just how exceptional this vehicle is,” Royal IHC said in its social media update.

Hi-Traq is the 4-tracked subsea vehicle with fully independent suspension and steering.

The vehicle was originally built as a dedicated trencher for cable burial in offshore wind farms but is also being developed as a multi-purpose tooling platform for a wide variety of subsea installation, IRM and decommissioning works.

In its trenching configuration, Hi-Traq features multiple tooling options that facilitate both jetting and mechanical cutting operations.

The trencher will be conducting land trials during next several week, the company noted.
