Russia: Moby Dik Terminal Handles New Tipe of Cargo

 

LLC Moby Dik (a Global Ports company) finished handling the first shipment of steel coils consigned to Hyundai Motors automotive factory in Saint Petersburg.

Narva motor vessel berthed at Moby Dik on 20 August. The vessel coming from Antwerp, Belgium, carried 157 steel rolls.

For handling the rolls the terminal has built a warehouse capable of accommodating up to 350 rolls at the same time. In addition, Moby Dik purchased high capacity metal sling ropes intended for similar cargo that keep damage to rolls to a minimum.

Moby Dik has two cargo berths with a total length of 321 m capable of berthing container carriers, bulkers and Ro-Ro vessels with a side and a stern ramp. The terminal operates two mobile high duty cranes (100 and 120 tons) to handle various types of cargo, including general cargo and containers. The current capacity of Moby Dik allows to handle up to 400,000 TEU per annum.
