Russian Navy Takes Delivery of RV ‘Yantar’

An oceanographic research vessel (RV) “Yantar” has been delivered to the Russian Navy.

The vessel has the same name as the shipyard where it was built, the Baltic Shipyard “Yantar” (part of the USC).

According to reports, the RV passed all the necessary tests prior to the delivery.

The vessel, known as Project 22010, was developed by Almaz Central Design Bureau.

The keel was laid on July 8, 2010, on the 65th anniversary of the Yantar Shipyard.

The vessel with a length of 108.1 meters and a beam of 17.2 meters has entered service in Russia’s Northern Fleet.

It has a displacement of 5,200 tons, a maximum speed of 15 knots, a range of 8,000nm, and can accommodate a crew of 60 members.
