SAAM puts two Robert Alan-designed tugs into service at GNL Quintero

Vessel designer Robert Alan said its RAstar 3200 class tugs named Yunco and Huairavo have been put into operation by a Chilean maritime agency SAAM at the Quintero LNG terminal.

The two tugs arrived in Chile after a 60-day crossing of the Pacific from China where they were constructed by Bonny Fair Development, Robert Alan said in a statement.

Equipped with winches for escort service, the two tugs will provide a full range of ship-handling service to the LNG terminal in the Bay of Quintero.

During the christening ceremony held in Valparaiso, Chile where SAAM is based, Cristián Rojas, manager of the Chile tugs division of SAAM said the two units are part of the company’s plan to renew and grow its fleet.

The Yunco and Huairavo tugs are a part of a four Robert-Alan designed tugs ordered at the Chinese shipbuilder.
