SBSEK Makes FID for Nautilus Tidal Project

Indonesia’s SBS Energi Kelautan (SBSEK) has made final investment decision (FID) for the Nautilus tidal stream project, and is accelerating development engineering activities for Phase I of the project.

Nautilus tidal project will provide reliable, zero-emission electrical power to State-owned electrical utility company, PT. Perusahaan Listrik Negara (PLN), throughout the 30-year duration of a power purchase agreement.

Atlantis Resources will deliver ocean energy turbines to the Nautilus project.

Endrue Fasa, president director of SBSEK, said: “On behalf of lndonesia’s first ocean energy IPP, I am delighted to announce FID with our Indonesian investment partners. We are now accelerating FEED, EIA and related activities, advancing project Nautilus toward Phase I commercial operation date.”

SBSEK has awarded the c.36-month Engineering, Procurement, Construction, Installation and Management (EPCIM) contract for offshore surveys, completion of FEED, EIA studies, turbine/power cable manufacturing, turbine assembly, system integration testing and installation activities to Scottish SBS.

SBS will direct the phased development works for SBSEK and oversee turbine manufacturing through installation of 8 x 1.5 MW turbines by Q1 2020 (Phase I), followed progressively by site expansions to 70 MW (Phase II) through 150 MW (Phase III).
