SeaBird Vessels Start Gigante Shoot

Oslo-listed, SeaBird, informed that all permits related to the Gigante survey for TGS Nopec have been granted and SeaBird has now kicked off the seismic campaign.

SeaBird announced the Letter of Award in November 2014. In May this year, TGS was granted seismic permit to acquire 181,500 km regional 2D seismic in Mexico, and said it will utilize four Seabird vessels to acquire an extensive regional grid of 2D multi-client seismic with 12,000 km offsets.

According to SeaBird, the vessels Osprey Explorer and Hawk Explorer have begun the acquisition while Northern Explorer is currently mobilizing to Mexico.

As earlier announced, Gigante will cover the offshore sector of Mexico, including the Perdido fold belt and Campeche Bay, and line ties will be made in to the US Gulf of Mexico regional grids previously acquired by TGS.

Data processing will be performed by TGS with initial fast-track data available in Q3 2015. According to TGS, Gigante should also include gravity and magnetic data with a regional seismic structural interpretation.
