Shell Places Order for Medium Range Oil Tankers from Korea

Royal Dutch Shell Plc (RDSA) is currently conducting negotiations with Hyundai Mipo Dockyard (010620) Co. and SPP Shipbuilding Co. shipyards on the construction of 20 Medium Range oil tankers, TradeWinds informs citing unnamed shipbrokers.

According to the same source, the possible deal would entail building of 10 of the vessels with options to build another 10 at a possible price of $28.5 million, in addition to chartering thereof.

Both, Hyundai Mipo Dockyard.Co.,ltd. and SPP Shipbuilding are Korea-based companies engaged in the shipbuilding business. Their product portfolios include construction of wide array of vessels such as medium-sized product carriers, bulk carriers, container ships, drill ships, petroleum carriers (PCs) and floating production storage and offloading (FPSO) ships.
