Shearwater gets more seismic work in Asia Pacific

Marine geophysical company Shearwater GeoServices has been awarded an extension to an ongoing contract in the Asia Pacific region.

Shearwater, jointly owned by GC Rieber and Rasmussengruppen, will undertake an additional 835-square kilometer 3D broadband acquisition and associated depth processing for an undisclosed national oil company.

The job will utilize the 16-streamer seismic vessel Polar Marquis. The seismic vessel was built in 2000, converted in 2006 and completed a four-month upgrade in 2014.

According to current AIS data, the Polar Marquis is offshore India’s west coast near Mumbai.

Furthermore, the 50 percent owner of the company, GC Rieber, said that Shearwater received confirmation from TGS for an optional work program scheduled for a start in early second quarter, adding approximately four months of backlog to the fleet.

Shearwater entered into an agreement with TGS for two seismic surveys, one firm and one optional, back in January.
