Spain: Repsol Rated as “Gold Class” Company 4th Year in a Row

Repsol has been rated as a “Gold Class” company for the fourth consecutive year, in the “Sustainability Yearbook 2011” complied by PricewaterhouseCoopers together with Sustainable Asset Management (SAM), an independent company that produces the annual assessments for the Dow Jones Sustainability Index. The Sustainability Yearbook assesses companies all over the world on their performance in the areas of sustainability and corporate responsibility.

Repsol is one of the eight companies in the Oil & Gas sector that have been rated “Gold Class” in recognition of its commitment to long-term value creation and for its responsible and sustainable search for increasingly difficult-to-access new energy resources.

The company led the rankings in the Oil and Gas sector in its social dimension, and has obtained the highest score in criteria such as code of conduct, climate change strategy and supplier standards. In the overall analysis, Repsol was also highly rated for transparency, environmental management, shareholder relations, social impacts on communities and stakeholder relations.

The “Sustainability Yearbook” examines the best sustainability practices in 58 different industries and evaluates more than 1,200 companies worldwide on their performance in economic, environmental and social development, taking into account the criteria included in the Dow Jones Sustainability Index (DJSI). This study has been carried out for more that ten years by Pricewaterhouse Coopers (PwC) and the Sustainable Asset Management Agency (SAM), and is one of world’s most prestigious in terms of sustainability.

This recognition of Repsol adds to that already received by the company for its performance in terms of sustainability and corporate responsibility. Repsol is part of the most reputed global sustainability indexes, including the DJSI World (Dow Jones Sustainability World Index), the European DJSI STOXX (Dow Jones Sustainability Europe Index), the Climate Disclosure Leadership (CDLI) and the Climate Performance Leadership (CPLI).
