Spectrum completes 2D program offshore Somalia

Spectrum, a Multi-Client seismic data specialist, has announced the completion of its 2D seismic program offshore south Somalia following the acquisition of 20,582.75 line km of data.

Spectrum entered into a Multi-client master co-operation agreement with the federal government of Somalia in September 2015 to acquire approximately 28,000 km of long offset 2D seismic data off Somalia.

According to the company, the new acquisition complements 20,000 km of existing seismic that was acquired in 2014 and the two datasets will allow the in-depth study of hydrocarbon prospectivity offshore Somalia.

Spectrum already started to process the data, for which interpretation will begin in the third quarter of 2016. Spectrum said that the findings would be announced by the Federal Government. This effort will reveal the resources, whether oil or gas, hidden beneath the sea-floor of the Indian Ocean, the company concluded.
