Thenamaris Adds Two More from Hyundai Samho

Greek ship manager Thenamaris (Ships Management) Inc, has exercised an option for construction of two Suezmax tankers at South Korean shipbuilder Hyundai Heavy Samho Industries.

The order was confirmed to World Maritime News by the company’s spokesperson and relates to a 158,580 dwt tanker duo, slated for delivery in 2017.

The latest order brings the company’s orderbook to eleven newbuildings, reaching a total capacity of over one million tons deadweight.

These include two Very Large Crude Carriers (VLCCs), three Suezmax tankers, four Aframax product carriers, and two Aframax crude carriers.

Out of this orderbook, nine vessels are expected to join Thenamaris’ fleet in 2017, one in 2016 and one in 2018.

Thenamaris manages tankers, containerships and bulk carriers that carry approximately 45 million tons of cargo a year, covering routes in the Black Sea, the Mediterranean, the Baltic Sea, West Africa, the Americas, the Middle Eastern Gulf and the Far East.

The average age of the managed fleet is around 8 years, with an overall capacity of over five and a half million tons deadweight.
