Third Kamsarmax Bulker Joins DryShips’ Fleet

Athens-based owner of drybulk carriers DryShips Inc. has taken delivery of a Kamsarmax drybulk carrier, purchased in mid-April 2017.

Featuring 81,129 deadweight tons, the bulk carrier will be employed in the spot market.

Built in 2014, the vessel, which is the company’s third Kamsarmax, was bought as part of a batch of three Kamsarmax drybulk carriers.

The remaining two vessels, which feature 81,918 dwt and 81,129 dwt respectively, are expected to join their new owner during the second quarter of 2017.

In late April, DryShips entered an agreement to acquire another 82,129 dwt Kamsarmax drybulk carrier. The ship, which is also expected to be delivered during the second quarter of 2017, will be financed with approximately USD 24 million using cash on hand.
