Update: Three Bodies Recovered from Sunken Thorco Cloud

Thorco Shipping informed that search and rescue teams have found three bodies near the wreckage of the recently sunken Thorco Cloud.

The multipurpose carrier Thorco Cloud sank on December 16 after having collided with the tank vessel Stolt Commitment from Stolt Tankers.

The ship sank in the high-traffic area of the Singapore.

There were 12 crew members on board and six of them were rescued shortly after the collision with the help from the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore, the Police Coast Guard and Stolt Commitment.

The company confirmed that one of three recovered bodies was identified as one of the crew members.

DNA samples and personal records have been forwarded to the authorities to affirm the identity of the other two recovered, and if they are related to Thorco Cloud, Thorco Shipping wrote.

Also the company informed that the search for the remaining missing crew members continues.

Update 04.01.2016.

Today Thorco confirmed that the two other recovered bodies have been identified as two of the initially six missing crew members.

The company said: “We are deeply saddened and want to express our sincere condolences to the families grieving the immeasurable loss they have suffered and likewise to the families still in a state of uncertainty.”
