Three Companies to Develop Tidal Energy in Indonesia

French and Indonesian marine energy technology companies have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to supply low cost renewable electricity to remote areas of Indonesia.

SABELLA, PLP and MEINDO signed an MOU on February 11,  with an aim to produce and deploy turbines with a 100 kW-2,500 kW capacity to harness marine currents of Indonesia waters, which are among the strongest in the world.

The partnes have highlighted their focus on East Indonesia and stated that this new industry will allow the creation of hundreds of jobs locally.

The three companies are already working on the engineering of first projects that will be implemented as soon as this year.
