Tohoku Electric buys LNG cargo

Tohoku Electric of Japan reportedly closed an LNG supply tender last week.

Sources told Reuters that only a select group of companies was invited to submit bids.

The cargo Tohoku is set to purchase is scheduled for November delivery.

Tohoku has long-term deals in place to purchase liquefied natural gas from the Wheatstone project in Australia and Cameron project in the United States. It has also signed a deal with Tokyo Electric Power Company to jointly work on the procurement of LNG.

The company last year considered to further diversify its sources and was eyeing supplies from the Mozambique LNG project.
