Quantum of the Seas Construction Officially Begins, Germany

The official keel-laying of the cruise ship Quantum of the Seas was celebrated, August 2, at MEYER WERFT in Papenburg by putting a 430-ts block in place in the yard’s covered building dock. Prior to this the first steel-cutting for her sister ship Anthem of the Seas took place at MEYER WERFT ‘s laser centre.

Eastern Rolls Out Second High-Tech PSV for Boldini

Eastern Shipbuilding Group, Inc. yesterday launched the second of five Platform Supply Vessels (PSVs) ordered by Boldini S.A., the M/V BRAVANTE VI. Design of the vessel, based on the very successful Eastern Shipbuilding’s “Tiger Shark Class” series, was provided by STX Canada Marine.

Japan’s Largest Warship Since World War II Floats

Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force (JMSDF) has launched its largest warship since World War II, according to media reports. The Izumo-class helicopter destroyer was officially unveiled at Yokohama on 6 August 2013.

Aker Philadelphia Shipyard ASA today announced that its wholly-owned subsidiary, Aker Philadelphia Shipyard, Inc. (APSI), and Crowley Maritime Corporation are expanding the cooperation initiated with the sale and delivery of two product tankers in 2012 and 2013.
