UK: Alnmaritec Delivers Second Line Handling Vessel ‘Wave Force’

Earlier this year the Alnmaritec Wave Handler class boat, ‘Wave Force’ commenced line handling duties at a bulk carrier terminal near Dampier in Western Australia. This is the second of it’s line handling vessels that Alnmaritec has supplied to this region, the first boat has been successfully operating for over a year now on an iron ore terminal at Point Lambert.

The Wave Force is the first of the new larger Wave Handler class from Alnmaritec. At just over 12m she is 2m longer than the previous Wave Handler boats and with 1000bhp of installed power she packs a powerful punch indeed. She is fitted with Twin ‘Trakor Jets’ from North American Marine Jets designed specifically to give her an exceptionally high bollard pull (nearly 5 tonnes) for line handling work as well as a handy turn of speed (25 knots) whilst retaining all the advantages of a water jet propulsion package on the boat. On the large aft working deck she has a 2 tonne hydraulic capstan and a 5 tonne tow post with quick release hook and she has a bow landing platform for personnel transfer. She has a spacious air conditioned wheelhouse with seating for up to 6 passengers and 2 crew as well as a WC and she is fitted with a water drench deluge system for rescue work – the new owners described her as “awesome” !!
