UK: Aubin Appoints New Director for Subsea Initiatives

Aberdeenshire firm Aubin has recently strengthened its management team with the appointment of a new director.

Serena Arif joins Aubin, a leading independent supplier of specialist chemicals to the energy industry, as subsea business director, where she will be responsible for market positioning of Aubin’s range of subsea products.

Ms Arif brings nearly 15 years’ experience in the energy industry, most recently holding the position of business development director at Greenthread, a company that specialises in water management solutions.

Trained as a chemist, Ms Arif worked in lab-based technology and plastics manufacturing before starting PolyOil, a technology company dedicated to providing polymer equipment solutions to the oil and gas industry. She was a founding director of PolyOil and headed the company designing and developing product lines before selling to Norwegian company Roxar in 2008. She became their regional manager for Europe and Africa, responsible for sales and servicing of Roxar’s Flow Measurement product range.

In her new role at Aubin, Ms Arif will liaise with subsea construction engineering companies and operators to promote Aubin’s game-changing product lines providing efficient solutions for buoyancy, insulation and sealing, as well as pipeline repair. She will also be responsible for boosting sales of Aubin’s existing products, including its patented gel technology DeepBuoy, Axilokk and Axigard.

Ms Arif said: “Aubin has a strong background in developing innovative products and now has a range of subsea solutions, and I am excited to join the company to put my skills to use.

“I am very impressed with the team here – there is a good mix of long-term knowledge and new, technical talent. I look forward to growing with the team and bringing an awareness of Aubin’s innovative products to the forefront.”

Paddy Collins, Managing Director of Aubin, said: “We are delighted to have Serena on board, as she will be instrumental in helping the company to continue to develop and grow. She has an immense wealth of information and a rich background in subsea products and will no doubt bring her expertise to our team.”

The appointment is part of Aubin’s ambitious growth plans. In February of this year, Aubin received a £2.25million investment from the Business Growth Fund to aid further research and development, as well as expand internationally into Russia and the Middle East.
