UK duo signs cross-sector collaboration deal

A UK-based duo, Tekmar Energy and Subsea Innovation, has signed an agreement to collaborate in sales, product development and strategic initiatives towards cost and risk reduction in both offshore wind farm cabling equipment and oil & gas SURF and pipeline ancillaries.

Tekmar said on Thursday that the agreement will see the companies work together on developing new solutions for offshore cable and SURF installation equipment, advanced pipeline repair systems and subsea sealing solutions such as EPRC and J-tube seals, SURF and cable protection solutions (bend restrictors and hang-off systems), and bespoke tooling for offshore installations.

James Ritchie, CEO of Tekmar Group, said: “Both sectors now face the same key challenge in price pressure and need to see cost and risk reduction to ensure sustainable demand. Within offshore wind, we intend to leverage our customer and cabling experience with SIL to develop new tools and equipment to support this challenge.”

Dave Thompson, MD at Subsea Innovation, said: “Working with Tekmar to strategically develop new products and services for clients in these challenging times is the right collaboration needed to ensure value within the supply chain. The team at Subsea Innovation has a wealth of offshore and subsea engineering experience that can be utilized to give Tekmar the opportunity to sell innovative technologies to both sectors.”

Tekmar Energy is a supplier in the offshore wind farm sector supplying its patented technology TEKLINK cable protection system on over 45 renewable projects.

Subsea Innovation is a designer and manufacturer of specialist equipment for the oil and gas, marine, offshore, and subsea environment.
