UK Salvage & Marine Operations Invites Tenders for WWII Wrecks Consultancy Services

Salvage & Marine Operations Team announces tender invitation for WWII Munitions Study and Marine Research Services in the UK, with duration of 6 months from contract award.

Salvage and Marine Operations are responsible for the management of the Ministry of Defence-owned potentially polluting or dangerous ship wrecks.

During WWII, many ships sank with a considerable weapons load on board.

A study is required to look at the generic hazard posed by differing classes of sunken warships and submarines when loaded with their standard issue of munitions.

This study will involve researching the standard inventory of weapons carried by classes of ships then analysing each type of munition to understand what changes may have occurred to them since the ships’ loss and what hazard they may pose today.

The deadline for submission of tenders is May 07, 2013.
