Video: River Conveyance of World Dream

World Dream, the second cruise ship built for Asian cruise line Dream Cruises, left Meyer Werft Shipyard in Papenburg, Germany, on September 17, to be conveyed on the river Ems to Eemshaven, Netherlands.

The river conveyance is the official start of World Dream’s journey to the North Sea where the vessel will undergo sea trials before it embarks on a voyage to its home in Asia. World Dream reached the North Sea, the vessel’s AIS data from September 18 show.

As informed, the newbuilding will start sailing from Hong Kong on November 17 and from Nansha on November 19.

The construction of the 151,300 gross ton World Dream began in February 2016 with the steel cutting ceremony at Meyer Werft.

Last month, Genting Cruise Lines, a parent company of Dream Cruises, celebrated the float out of the 335-meter-long vessel.

Designed for the Chinese market, the 3,400-passenger World Dream is the sister vessel to Genting Dream, which was handed over to the company in October 2016.

“World Dream will play a key role in Genting Cruise Lines’ growth strategy in Asia. By building on the success of her twin sister ship Genting Dream, World Dream is expanding our capacity and strengthening our market leadership in the region,” Kent Zhu, President of Genting Cruise Lines, said in a statement.

“We are as excited to welcome World Dream at her homeports in Hong Kong and Nansha this November to further grow the Pearl River Delta as a cruise centre and increase the FlyCruise market in this part of Asia,” he added.
