Voith Presents New Vessel Propulsion Control System in Spain

Voith will display a functional model of the new vessel propulsion control system for Voith Schneider Propellers and Voith Radial Propellers at the ITS (International Tug, Salvage & OSV Convention) in Barcelona from May 28 to June 01, 2012.

The new system offers various new electronic control and assistance features including faster actuation and more precise control of the propulsion systems, remote diagnostics via the internet and communication through a range of interfaces. The new control system will be supplied for the first time in the last quarter of 2012 and will be available as a series product from mid-2013 onwards.

Voith sets standards in the markets energy, oil & gas, paper, raw materials and transport & automotive. Founded in 1867, Voith employs more than 40,000 people, generates €5.6 billion in sales, operates in more than 50 countries around the world and is today one of the biggest family-owned companies in Europe.

Now in its 44th year, the International Tug, Salvage & OSV Convention returns to Spain in 2012 after an absence of 10 years, heading for one of the world’s most beautiful and sought-after cities: Barcelona. When the 17th Convention was held in Bilbao in May 2002, it welcomed 278 delegates and 57 exhibitors. This, the 22nd Convention, will see an anticipated 450 delegates and more than 150 exhibitors – a huge increase in the space of just a decade, reflecting the extraordinary and on-going success of the event.
