Vroon Offshore Services Takes Delivery of New AHTS in China

Dutch based Vroon Offshore Services (VOS) has taken delivery of a new addition to their offshore fleet. VOS Ares, an “A class” anchor handling tug supply (AHTS) vessel, was delivered from the Fujian Southeast Shipyard in China.

She is the fifth in a series of six vessels being built at this yard for Vroon, with the last vessel also scheduled for delivery this month.

These “A-class” vessels are slightly more advanced than the “H-type” and “T-Type” AHTS vessels also operated by Vroon, having a bigger bow thruster (8 MT) and stern thruster (6 MT). Consequently, they have improved manoeuvring and station-keeping capabilities. The VOS Ares has a DP-1 notation.

In a ceremony held at the Shipyard in July 2011, VOS Ares was christened by Mrs Dieneke Korteland, wife of Mr Aart Korteland, Supervisory Board Chairman, Vroon Group B.V.

The vessel is expected to leave the yard early next week and will be operated by Vroon Offshore Services Pte Ltd in Singapore.
