The Tier III NOx compliant newbuild is priced at USD 34 million, Wisdom Marine said in a regulatory filing.

The contract marks Wisdom’s return to JMU for an identical newbuilding to the one ordered in June this year.

Wisdom Marine has been very busy with fleet renewal plans this year. In February, the company invested USD 68 million in two new NOx Tier III Panamaxes, which will also be built by JMU.

In total, the company has 13 newbuilings on order, including three Panamaxes at JMU, three Handies and two Supramaxes at Imabari, two Handies at Namura, two Supramaxes at Kawasaki and one Sumpramax at Tsuneishi.

Two newbuilds are set for delivery by the end of the year followed by three more next year, according to Wisdom’s website data. The shipowner has 131 ships in its live fleet.
