WLEA Reports Business Growth (Australia)

Before Marcel Vos joined WireCo Lankhorst Euronete Australia (WLEA) business was booming – it has only increased since.

“Before I joined WLEA the team was already doing an excellent job however, increasing business meant they were short of time to find new business, this is where I stepped in”, said Marcel Vos, area sales manager. Marcel said of his role “Customers appreciate being visited personally on a regular basis and it also makes a good impression to potential customers. Visiting in person allows me to explain the extra value of Lankhorst’s ropes and assist our customers as part of the after sales process.”

Lankhorst’s award winning A3 splice was tested with Fisheries Supply Pty. Ltd, which became Lankhorst Euronete Australia in January 2011 and later WireCo Lankhorst Euronete Australia. The A3 splice received the Seatrade ‘Innovation in Ship Operations’ award; Marcel says “the extra values in the A3 splice are it is lighter, smaller and stronger than traditional splices, meaning it is easier to handle without compromising the rope’s performance.”

2013 has been a year of sustained growth and development for WLEA, four new employees have joined and the company has relocated to larger offices and warehouses; Marcel notes “Moving has allowed us to hold more stock and, therefore ensure more ropes are immediately available to our clients.” Further to this WLEA has invested in a new rope test bench; “the 16m test bench is capable of testing up to a maximum breaking load of 200 ton making it one of the strongest test facilities in Australia”, he said.

Speaking on how WLEA serve Australia Marcel said “On the East coast, where the WLEA office is located, there are lots of fisheries, maritime (tug operators) and lifting companies whereas on the West coast (Western Australia) there are all of the industries mentioned above as well as the offshore oil and gas industry and all of the connected industries.” Previously Marcel worked as area sales manager for several countries around the world. “At the moment I am only responsible for one country but as Australia is the size of Europe there is always plenty of work to do.”
