ZIM Expands Its Intra-America Network

Business & Finance

Israeli container shipping company ZIM launched a new Guyana & Suriname Express service (GSE) starting from March 2.

The company is expanding its services by offering the new fixed-day rotation that will connect Kingston KCT (Wed), Georgetown JFT (Mon-Tue) and Paramaribo (Thu-Fri).

Operating with two 1,100 TEU vessels, the new service aims at enhancing the company’s Intra-America network and connecting to ZIM’s global network via its hub located in Kingston.

In February, the company initiated an extensive program, aimed at changing its organizational structure by making independent the three major business units – Pacific Unit, Intra-Asia Unit and Cross Suez-Atlantic Unit.

The restructuring, scheduled to enter into force on March 1st, should strengthen the company’s position in its profitable trade areas and respond to market needs.

ZIM has also seen its Chief Executive Officer, Rafi Danieli, resign this January. However, ZIM said that Danieli will continue to serve as CEO until a new person is appointed to the post.
