Gazpromtranz and Johnsen Oil a/s Sign cooperation agreement

Sophisticated gas, oil and petroleum cleaning equipment for Russian specialized rolling stock

A cooperation agreement signed 12th November 2010 positions Johnsen Oil – the supplier of high-quality equipment for filtration of different oils for internal combustion engines as well as hydraulic and gear systems – as an official Gazpromtrans partner and provider of filtration equipment and services for the Russian integrated railway operator’s industrial activities. The parties have entered into a 5-year duration agreement, with an option to prolong included.

As part of the leading Russian energy company, Gazprom, Gazpromtrans’ core activity is the rail transportation of oil & petrochemical products, liquefied hydrocarbon gas and sulfur. The company has a fleet of specialized rolling stock, which amounts to 26,000 railroad cars, as well as its own locomotive fleet and advanced railway infrastructure at affiliated branches.

The new cooperation agreement was developed to meet the Gazpromtrans requirement for the supply of gas, oil and petroleum cleaning equipment for its extensive rolling stock and locomotive fleet. The parties have set a target to specify the necessary equipment for this operation as soon as practically possible.

Johnsen Oil shall, in cooperation with its sub-contractors, supply Gazpromtrans according to defined projects and requirements. As part of the agreement, Johnsen Oil will provide supplies to Gazpromtrans within technology and the development of cleaning and filtration solutions. Additional requirements include the development of services able to prolong the lifetime and reduce the cost of filtering elements, and documentation for application of the equipment.

“Gazpromtrans has already estimated its need for filtration solutions, and has agreed to purchase a volume requirement of different filter units of various size, including filtering equipment for gas pollutants,” comments Henrik Karlsgaard, CEO, Johnsen Oil. “Our filtration equipment and technology provides efficiency and greater usage life across several sectors of the transport industry including maritime, air and cranes, and Gazpromtrans will now enjoy these benefits within the rail transport business.”
