While announcing its new contract, worth between $50 million and $150 million, Subsea7 explains that this job will enable it to work for Ithaca Energy, providing off-station decommissioning services for the Alba floating storage unit (FSU) and the Greater Stella Area‘s FPF-1 production facility, approximately 230 kilometers east of Aberdeen.

The scope of work for this decommissioning assignment entails the flushing of the subsea pipelines, provision of diver support vessel services, and seabed clearance. While the project management and engineering will start immediately at Subsea7’s office in Aberdeen, offshore activities are scheduled to begin in Q2 2026.

Hani El Kurd, Senior Vice President of UK and Global Inspection, Repair and Maintenance at Subsea7, commented: “This award provides an excellent opportunity to further demonstrate the extent of our three decades of full-field proven decommissioning expertise and our capability in delivering complex, safe and effective solutions.

“Subsea7 is proud of its longstanding relationship with Ithaca Energy, which began in 2008, and looks forward to collaborating closely throughout this project to combine our expertise and ensure its successful delivery.”

The Ithaca Energy-operated Greater Stella Area, which is located in the heart of the Central Graben area of the Central North Sea, covers the Stella, Harrier, Abigail, and Vorlich producing fields. While the oil production goes through the ConocoPhillips-operated NorPipe system, gas is exported via the Kellas Midstream-operated CATS system.

The latest UK job comes months after Subsea7 won a contract for the engineering, procurement, construction, and installation (EPCI) of 106 kilometers of infield and export pipelines, modification to existing topsides, and associated hook-up activities for certain facilities off the coast of Saudi Arabia.
