Baker Botts in London office partner change

Baker Botts said that Mark Rowley has been appointed, effective April 1, as the Partner in Charge of the firm’s London office.

Rowley, a partner in the firm’s London office, replaces Steve Wardlaw who is leaving the firm to pursue other business interests outside the legal field, the company said in a statement.

Rowley’s practice focuses on advising clients on the development of energy projects, with a particular focus on upstream oil and gas developments, and liquefied natural gas and cross-border pipeline projects.

Rowley joined Baker Botts in London in 2001, and was then based in, and head of, the Firm’s office in Baku, Azerbaijan from 2003 to 2005. In January 2010, Rowley moved to Australia to become General Counsel of Australia Pacific LNG in Brisbane, before rejoining the firm in October 2011.

Wardlaw was the first English qualified associate to join the firm, in January of 2000, and has been the Partner in Charge of the London office since September of 2012. Prior to that, he was Partner in Charge of the firm’s Moscow office for seven years.
