Baker Hughes: U.S. Offshore rigs rise to 60

Baker Hughes Incorporated has published its Weekly Rig Count. U.S. offshore rigs are on the rise.

BHI Rig Count: U.S. – 4 to 1857 rigs

U.S. Rig Count is down 4 rigs from last week to 1857, with oil rigs down 3 to 1528, gas rigs down 1 to 325, and miscellaneous rigs unchanged at 4.

U.S. Rig Count is up 95 rigs from last year at 1762, with oil rigs up 126, gas rigs down 29, and miscellaneous rigs down 2.

The U.S. Offshore rig count is 60, up 3 rigs from last week, and up 9 rigs year over year.
BHI Rig Count: Canada + 1 to 154 rigs

Canadian Rig Count is up 1 rig from last week to 154, with oil rigs up 3 to 65, and gas rigs down 2 to 89.

Canadian Rig Count is up 23 rigs from last year at 131, with oil rigs down 10, and gas rigs up 33.

 

The Baker Hughes Rotary Rig Counts are counts of the number of drilling rigs actively exploring for or developing oil or natural gas in the United States, Canada and international markets. Baker Hughes has issued the rotary rig counts as a service to the petroleum industry since 1944, when Hughes Tool Company began weekly counts of US and Canadian drilling activity. Baker Hughes initiated the monthly international rig count in 1975.
