Baker Hughes: U.S. weekly offshore rig count up by 1

Baker Hughes Incorporated has posted Weekly Rig Count reports to its website, according to which one new offshore rig came into service this week.

BHI Rig Count: U.S. – 6 to 1803 rigs

U.S. Rig Count is down 6 rigs from last week to 1803, with oil rigs up 12 to 1473, gas rigs down 18 to 326, and miscellaneous rigs unchanged at 4.

U.S. Rig Count is up 57 rigs from last year at 1746, with oil rigs up 149, gas rigs down 92, and miscellaneous rigs unchanged.

The U.S. Offshore rig count is 55, up 1 rig from last week, and up 3 rigs year over year.
BHI Rig Count: Canada – 133 to 389 rigs

Canadian Rig Count is down 133 rigs from last week to 389, with oil rigs down 117 to 210, and gas rigs down 16 to 179.

Canadian Rig Count is up 52 rigs from last year at 337, with oil rigs down 11, and gas rigs up 63.

The Baker Hughes Rotary Rig Counts are counts of the number of drilling rigs actively exploring for or developing oil or natural gas in the United States, Canada and international markets. Baker Hughes has issued the rotary rig counts as a service to the petroleum industry since 1944, when Hughes Tool Company began weekly counts of US and Canadian drilling activity. Baker Hughes initiated the monthly international rig count in 1975.
