Cavitas Teams Up with RFD on Reservoir Simulation Technology

Cavitas Energy, enhanced oil recovery specialist, has added bespoke reservoir modelling to its current portfolio of services.
Working in partnership with Rock Flow Dynamics (RFD), the developers of subsurface analysis technology tNavigator, Cavitas said it will spearhead small and large scale reservoir modelling of Enhanced Oil Recovery (EOR) techniques and their effects on heavy or conventional oil fields.
Throughout the development of the THOR (Thermal Heavy Oil Recovery) technology, Cavitas has undertaken a number of reservoir modelling projects for international heavy oil operating companies.
Managing director, Steve Johnstone, said: “Our recent experience shows that an increase of up-to 16% of recoverable reserve can be achieved through the application of our technologies. Having completed many reservoir modelling exercises for clients during large scale projects, Cavitas had seen an increased demand for this support and partnering with RFD allowed for an unrivalled service offering which enhances the results for our clients.”
The collaboration between Rock Flow Dynamics and Cavitas will utilise tNavigator to extract live or representative geological data to build and run simulation scenarios. Results will highlight the effects on production from EOR techniques such as Thermal, Chemical, CO2, Polymer, Miscible Gas and many more.

The service provides operators with detailed EOR based reservoir modelling, supporting decision making for undeveloped heavy oil fields. Simulations aim to provide heavy oil operating companies with additional resources where they would otherwise remain untapped.
