CGGVeritas Provides Better Insight to Geology of Alaminos Canyon Area

CGGVeritas has completed the processing of its Three Corners Extension Wide-Azimuth (WAZ) survey. The deliverables for the multi-client survey, located in the Western Gulf of Mexico, include Prestack Depth Migrated (PSDM) VTI RTM, Controlled Beam and Kirchhoff volumes.

The survey extends the original Three Corners WAZ program to over 600 blocks of coverage in the East Breaks and Alaminos Canyon planning areas. These new highest-quality images are now available well in advance of BOEMRE OCS Western Gulf of Mexico Lease Sale 218 – the first lease sale in over a year.

Luc Schlumberger, Executive Vice President, Multi-Client & New Ventures, CGGVeritas, said: “The images of this advanced wide-azimuth survey provide a step-change in the clarity and detail of the historically difficult-to-image geology of the Alaminos Canyon Area. We are very encouraged by the first feedback from our clients which is very positive and they are pleased to be able to access this data well in advance of the upcoming lease sale.”

CGGVeritas is a leading international pure-play geophysical company delivering a wide range of technologies, services and equipment through Sercel, to its broad base of customers mainly throughout the global oil and gas industry.
