Chantiers Piriou Shipyard Delivers Two Tugs for Algeria

CHANTIERS PIRIOU, the shipbuilding branch of PIRIOU in Concarneau, delivered two tugs, following the order placed by GICEP (Groupement d’Intérêt Commun des Entreprises Portuaires) in April 2010 for the delivery of four 72-tonnes harbour tugs for Algeria.

The first two units, 32 metres in length with 72 tonnes bollard pull, were delivered this autumn and this delivery was within the planned contractual delivery deadline. They are destined for the public port authorities of Arzew and of Skikda.

During trials, it became clear that the contractual performance requirements were not only met but exceeded. The service provided also includes training of the crews to run these vessels.

The two other tugs, destined for the ports of Alger and of Arzew, are in the process of being constructed and delivery will follow in the spring of 2012.
