China: CIC Changxing Shipyard Repairs MV African Glory

M.V. “African Glory”, owned by a Hong Kong company, recently arrived at CIC Changxing Shipyard for repair. The scope of main jobs included regular docking repair, sand blasting & painting for the cargo holds, about 1000m2 chipping & painting in DBT, 20tons steel renewal, M/E overhauling and small modification in engine room.

The owner awarded the repair projects of two vessels to Changxing shipyard last year and they were quite satisfied with the project quality, service, repair period and price. Since the ship management company of the subject vessel had not cooperated with CIC-Shipyards before and known less about us, they were going to send the vessel to another shipyard in China which brought CIC-Shipyards lots of obstacles during the bidding period. Facing the present recession of the ship repair market, CIC-Shipyards cherished every bidding chance, kicked off a business visit to the owner & the ship management company, communicated with them sincerely and effectively, and finally won the project.

Presently, this project is being carried in good order and will be expected to complete within the contracting repair period. CIC-Shipyards hopes to reinforce the relationship with this ship management company through this repair, in order to seize more business opportunities and secure more repair orders in future.
