China: Emergency Repair Project of MV Promise 1 Well Underway at CIC Changxing Shipyard

Recently, CIC Changxing Shipyard received an emergency enquiry for vessel repair from one Hong Kong shipping management company. Since the leakage of sulfur carried by the subject vessel resulted in the serious corrosion of the tank top, hopper plates and lower stools in all cargo holds, the vessel needed emergent repairs to be carried out.

CIC-Shipyards organized a business team to make the quotation immediately. Finally, the company won the bid in this fierce competition.

MV Promise 1 arrived at CIC Changxing Shipyard on April 21st 2012. According to the evaluation report, the total amount of steel renewal reached 150 tons. After the inspection, the yard’s working team founded that the situation was worse than expected. The amount of steel renewal was nearly doubled to 275 tons. The production department updated the repair schedule with the superintendent. Presently, this project is under way and in good order.
