DCNS Energies takes Open Ocean’s metocean offer

DCNS Energies has chosen Open Ocean’s Metocean Analytics for a worldwide analysis of metocean conditions.

DCNS Energies, a DCNS subsidiary dedicated to marine renewable energies, will use Metocean Analytics for the analysis of metocean historical conditions at numerous potential sites of interest around the world, Open Ocean informed.

Metocean Analytics simplifies and accelerates the search and analysis process for potential offshore development sites providing average metocean conditions, as well as extreme value analysis and operating weather windows, according to Open Ocean.

This is possible thanks to a large catalog of wind, wave, ocean current and sea temperature data coupled with statistical tools that analyze the locations of interest, and an editing tool which provides reports on-demand.

Jerome Cuny, Co-founder of Open Ocean, said: “Metocean Analytics will help DCNS Energies save time and reduce its costs in analyzing the match between their technologies and numerous offshore sites around the world.”

To remind, DCNS launched DCNS Energies early in 2017 to accelerate the development of marine renewable energy sector by bringing tidal energy, ocean thermal energy conversion (OTEC) and floating offshore wind technologies to full maturity.

Open Ocean is a Paris-based company that specializes in high resolution numerical modeling, statistical analysis and data mining, and offers services for the marine renewable energy sector.
