Don’t be inefficient, get fit again

The fourth edition of Navingo’s Offshore Energy Stakeholders Meeting took place on the 8th of March 2016.

During this Offshore Energy Industry Outlook 2016 leading industry representatives spoke about the recent developments in the oil and gas industry, with a focus on the declining oil prices and its effects.

Led by Joep Athmer, President & Managing Director Van Oord Offshore and Member of the Management Team van Oord, three outlooks were presented to the audience by Bart Cornelissen (Deloitte), Coby van der Linde (Clingendael International Energy Programme) and Leon Harland (Heerema).

Currently the industry is experiencing by far the longest crisis in decades. Bart Cornelissen, Partner Strategy & Operators at Deloitte stated in his Oil Outlook that collaboration is needed to reduce cost. Coby van der Linde, Director of Clingendael International Energy Programme, talked about the current situation in the gas market. After both an oil and gas outlook had been presented, Leon Harland, Executive VP Commercial & Technology, Heerema Marine Contractors, concluded with an offshore outlook.

The industry has been feeling the pain of the low oil price and ‘lower for longer’ is the current sentiment. Nonetheless, in the long run we should be positive. The industry should focus on innovation, efficiency and collaboration to endure the current crisis. This will all be covered during Offshore Energy Exhibition & Conference on 25 & 26 October 2016 in Amsterdam RAI.
