UPDATE: Eidesvik Hands Over Viking II

Eidesvik Offshore’s subsidiary Eidesvik Shipping has delivered the seismic vessel Viking II to an undisclosed buyer, following the signing of a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) on August 20, 2015.

The seismic vessel, built by Mjellem & Karlsen in 1999, was previously operated by a French seismic contractor CGG.

Under CGG, Viking II was used as a multi-streamer, multi-source vessel equipped with integrated geophysical and navigation data acquisition systems and onboard data processing. However, according to Eidesvik the vessel will not be used for seismic work with the new owner.

The company did not disclose the value of the sale, but informed it was close to book value of the vessel.
