Genting Dream Handed Over to Dream Cruises

German shipbuilder Meyer Werft delivered the new cruise ship Genting Dream to the Asian cruise operator Dream Cruises in Bremerhaven on October 12.

After being handed over to the owner in Bremerhaven, the 335-meter long Genting Dream will set sail to Pacific Asia where it will offer cruises for two, five and seven nights.

Sailing from Hong Kong, it will cruise through regions in Vietnam and China.

Dream Cruises’ new ship, designed for the rapidly developing Chinese cruise market, can accommodate 3,400 passengers and 2,000 crew, according to Meyer Werft.

Featuring 151,300 gross tons, the vessel is equipped with environmentally friendly marine engines, diesel-electric pod drives, and improved hydrodynamics as well as numerous energy saving measures, heat recovery or ballast water cleaning, the shipbuilder added.

Genting Dream, scheduled to begin service on November 13, is the first of two cruise vessels being built for Dream Cruises, a part of Genting Hong Kong.

Its sister ship, the World Dream, is scheduled for delivery in late 2017.
