GTT said on Tuesday that the order by SHI was made on behalf of the Copenhagen-based Celsius Tankers.

The company added that its Mark III Flex membrane containment system was selected for the design of the tanks.

The delivery of the ships is planned during the first half of 2021. Financial or any other details regarding the deal were left undisclosed.

Philippe Berterottière, Chairman and CEO of GTT, said: “We are very pleased to receive this new order from SHI, which confirms Celsius Tankers’ entry into the LNG industry.

Celsius Tankers ordered first two liquefied natural gas (LNG) carriers from SHI in August 2018 with an option for further two vessels.

The first two such vessels for Celsius Tankers, priced at $187 million each, were equipped with Mark Ⅲ Flex type containment system with re-liquefaction capability to lower the boil-off rate.
