GTT, the French maker of LNG containment system has received an order from the Chinese shipyard Hudong Zhonghua Shipbuilding for four liquefied natural gas. carriers.

The order secured at the end of June concerns four 174,000-cbm LNG carriers which will be built for Japan’s Mitsui O.S.K. Lines (MOL).

The ships would be equipped with the NO96-L03+ technology, GTT said in a statement, adding that the delivery of the first vessel is scheduled for late 2019.

GTT did not reveal the value of the deal.

To remind, Japan’s MOL recently signed a long-term charter contract for four 174,000-cbm LNG carriers which will serve the Novatek-operated $27 billion Yamal LNG project in the Russian Arctic.

“We are very pleased to further strengthen our relations with our partner Hudong Zhonghua. This is an extraordinary order, a very large and major shipbuilding project to which we are proud to contribute. In addition, the four vessels concerned will be equipped with the technology NO96-L03+, a success for the new GTT technologies recently developed,” said Philippe Berterottière, Chief Executive of GTT.
